According to the Chieftain, the indictment is sealed until all of the suspects are rounded up . .
The paper stated that one of the suspects was in Steamboat Springs . . I can't understand why Thiebault won't go arrest someone in the middle of a ski trip . . what's the difference between skiing and playing golf?

How is this connected to the death of a student in September. this is all so awful, these Siuth High students have ruined their lives.

Although there hasn't been anything more than supposition released to the press or public, the Authorities, starting with the DA have implied that the death of Corey Suazo from an alleged overdose of "Prescription Medications" at a pill party being held by a group of people, some being South High School Students.
The above is more or less the implication . .
The deal is, the kids take (or steal) prescription drugs from the family medicine cabinets, meet at a party, put all of these pills on a bowl, mix 'em up and then ingest a handfull with whatever Alcoholic beverage they're drinking . .
I have to say this has to one of the dumbest things for kids to think up since we started keeping a history of stupidity . . But Thiebault, apparently is gonna put 'em in jail . . or whatever . .

It's all speculation right now, but it certainly looks like it's related to the death of that student back in September.
If this goes down the way I think it will, a majority of those students arrested will plea bargain down in exchange for testimony against the main people organizing these parties. When you arrest 18 people, all it takes is one person to spill a little information and a cold trail suddenly becomes red hot. I will not be one bit surprised when a couple of involuntary manslaughter charges are handed down.

They said one suspect MAY be in Steamboat Springs. I really doubt the person is off on a ski trip. Likely hiding out in a family home or with friends. Some serious s**t is about to hit the fan I reckon and they are having problems with this one person. All in due time....

I dunno . . Watching the "Newly Elected" County Law Enforcement Agencies in action hasn't impressed me much . .
There's a lot more "INK" than Prosecution . .
Apparently when a indictee is out on bond, there's no Jailhouse snitches to provide testimony . .
And it doesn't matter what the suspect is doing in Steamboat, if they know he/She is there, it can't be much harder than dragging a golfer off the golf course . . heh, heh . . Steamboat just ain't that big . .
And . . based upon previous history, this buncha clowns would have surrounded the town with a SWAT Team . . arrested 'em all, confiscated their Skis . . torn down their condos . .

With all of the police cars and flashing red lights at South I can see why some parents were concerned for the safety of their children. Mr. Thiebault's daughter must be truly embarassed at her father's actions. To pull a "Zaremba" is the D.A.'s style. Of course he is all style and no substance. Let us see how this plays out. I can see some juvenile misdemeanors, sealed and deferred. I hope to heck someone, anyone runs against this idiot in the next election. If I were one of the kid's parents I would go to court, because it is a known fact that without a plea bargain the D.A.'s batting average is below the "Mendoza Line". They will win the cabby murder trial though because a special prosecutor was brought in, probably a legal professional and not a legal poseur.

Anyone else notice all the 18-20 year olds in the Crime Beat today? All of them on warrants for possession with intent to distribute? A lot of them live on the South Side and Beulah, which would make South the likely school of choice.

60-50, Northern Ave is a high traffic youth cruising area, and I'd imagine the police are "Pressing' that area right now . . lots of stops on West Northern and the "Cruise" area around South . . Hollywood, O'Neal, etc . .
Just common Police work, perhaps a little tardy . . again, we need to go back to "Crime Prevention" instead of "Crime Reaction".
As well as, to quote my friend George Rivera, who commented upon "Graffiti Vandalism" in this morning's paper, stating that the problem could have been cured by more parental attention in the past . . It's still a parent's responsibility to know where their kids are, and what they're doing . .
In the case of the Special prosecutor, had to be done . . One of the suspects (or defendants, as case may be) is a grandson of a judge and related to several officers of the court locally . . In all likelihood the whole DA's office as well as most of the local judges will have to recuse themselves from the prosecution of any or all of those involved in the killing . .

Totally get what you are saying...
However, those listed today were all arrested on warrants and not coming off of traffic stops. I'm wondering if some of them are the ones arrested the other day as a result of the grand jury indictment. Heck, forget that...I know they are. They have to be. 11 warrants for controlled substances/intent to distribute? Figure maybe one or two of them are not related to the grand jury indictment, so 9-10 arrests off of warrants. Some of the others are probably younger than 18, so they can't be listed.
Looks like the puzzle will start being put together this week. Should be interesting to see how this turns out. Hopefully it'll bring some peace to the parents and family of the South student that passed away.

Y'gotta remember, warrants are put out for people, often quite some time before apprehension, and all the attention Northern Avenue is getting is starting to show . . but, neither of us really know, because we don't have any dates . . either on the warrants or the actual date of the arrest.
As for the kids involved in the deal about Corey Suazo, I'm betting that was a whole different deal . . But his death focused attention on all the roaches and rats in the dark corners . . back to what I said on another thread . . Guilaini cut crime in New York City by going directly after "Street Crime" and this led to reducing other violent crimes.
To clean a house, you have to get all the dirt.

Let's see....
A kid died from ingesting prescription drugs that weren't his.
I'd say that's pretty serious.
18 people have been arrested on sealed charges. Usually sealed charges are pretty serious. 18 arrests? Yeah, that's pretty serious.
No idea if the people in the crime beat are related to the indictments yet, but I would say it's safe to assume it's probably not the best time to be dealing any drugs in Pueblo. 11 arrests in the span of 2 days on warrants charging possession with intent to distribute? Yeah, that's pretty serious.
If the indictments have something to do with the South student dying and the DA goes the involuntary manslaughter route and people are found guilty of that and distributing drugs? 20 years or so in prison sounds pretty serious.

Peterson, hang in there . . we've discussed and postulated about this, but what is known has been printed by the Chieftain, and when more news is available . . rest assured they'll print it . . .

OK, in an article about the Security officer who rolled over on Amanda Tilley, in this morning's Paper, there was an Inference that because Corey Suazo was one of the witnesses in that case, and is now deceased, that the Grand Jury Hearings and subsequent indictments could be linked to that event . .
Or not . .

Be aware our staff has been working hard to get more info about the indictments but until they have all parties the indictment is to stay sealed. I would look for a breaking news story on the web and print stories to follow as soon as the indictment is unsealed.
