SMC can now receive unstable trauma patients???!

I hope I'm never in a position to have to be an unstable patient there...I don't trust them any further than I could throw them.

Having had the misfortune of experiencing SMC first hand, I'd recommend Parkview any day over SMC.

SMC has the rudest, most incompetant staff around. I could go on with more about my own experiences there and the experiences of some of the folks I've worked with...

SMC has a great Radiation Department . . Been there, Done that . .

But, whatever you do . . Don't get caught in their Recovery Room . . Chances are, you'll be caught DEAD . . . In the last four years, I, personally, know of 5 people who, usually from either minor or same day surgery, came out of the surgery fine, but never saw the exit door of the recovery room.

It's almost a crapshoot . . And the odds don't seem too good!

On the other hand, their "Sister" Hospital, up the road, Penrose, is like a Four Star with great people, great services and CONFIDENCE! Memorial in the Springs is just like a Big Version of SMC. Go in live, come out dead. . . .

Ironic, isn't it???

I would trust Penrose over Memorial any day.

I once went in there (to Memorial) because it was after hours and I broke a tooth...I was in so much pain...ugh. So what happens? They put me in a room and tell me to take off all my clothes and put on this gown. They were going to give me a (lower feminine area) exam!

Good Golly, Miss Molly!

I walked out of there and went to Penrose, who immediately put me in touch with the on call Dentist...

Memorial has other issues as well...I think most of their staff suffers from Personality Disorders which manifest in boundary and control issues.

Never had much of a problem with SMC my wife had surgery there a few years ago and all turned out ok. I have heard bad things about the hospital though.

We use parkview 99% of the time so I don't give it a lot of thought.

The good thing though is that now transport time will be a lot less from the south part of town if you need trauma care, when a lot of times every second counts.

I don't know how SMC got certified for trauma care...they can't even appropriately deal with a broken leg (mine) let alone something worse. They told me I had an ankle sprain, I found out two days later that I had a pretty good fracture just above the ankle, which explained why my ankle and foot turned all black.

My mom was going in for a same day surgery, the girl that was saposed to check us in was 30 min late, when we went to the ER to find out where she was a girl in there said she would be there when she got there, turns out, it was her that was saposed to be there, but she was to busy talking to the ER nurse to do her job. Then she is so rude I almost wanted to spit at her, but I could'nt do it in front of my mom. about an hour and a half later, we were in the waiting room, then they wont let me stay in the little room they put her in. The girl at the nurses station was writing checks to pay her bills, then refused to tell my mom what was going on. Needless to say we walked out, and then while we were walking out she was like "You can't just leave" Oh yes we can, and I won't ever go back.

KUDOS TO SMC!!! All hospitals have issues but my worst experiences are at PMC. I will choose SMC any day!!! SMC all the way!!!

PMC killed my sisters dad they gave him the opposite type of medication. I worked at PMC and found out what type of devious issues they hide.

I had my first 3 babies at SMC and they did wonderful. They even saved the life of my second born child who had some issues at birth. There nursing staff was great. They let me shower, and sent housekeeping. They met every need that came up.

I had my 4th baby at PMC and it was a horrible mistake. I asked them if I could take a shower they told me NO . I did it anyways a person needs a shower after having a baby!!! I had to pull my own IV cause there was blood going way up in the line and I asked for 2 hours untill I got fed up, I begged them to send housekeeping up several times, after all I had a baby and there was amniotic fluid and blood all over the floor. They never sent housekeeping and I had several visitors that was just embarrasing.

I don't like the way the nurses badmouth patients they don't like in front of them, or in front of other patients.

I also don't like the way nurses there badmouth each other or the Doctors in front of patients.

I think that's very unprofessional.

As I said before, their Radiation Department Rocks . . Arlie and the gals . . They're great . .

As for the Recovery Room, don't get caught dead in it!
