Did I understand this correctly? Do charter schools receive 30% off the top of Pueblo City Schools budget, or 30% on the increased amount received this year. My math is a little fuzzy, but I don't believe that 30% of Pueblo students attend charter schools. Help me understand this.

Y'know, I never paid any attention to Charter schools . . or how they are financed.
I have had the opinion that the "Charter School Idea" is about the same as a company that has made a product for many years, and when it became sub-standard or Obsolete, instead of bringing the product up to the required standards, they formed a new Branch Company that would make the improved product and sell it for about twice as much as the original, while continuing to make and sell the old inferior, non-functioning product to those who could not afford the new, improved one . .
Did I get that about right?

The Monument Charter schools operate on 30% of what the public schools get per student (100%), Their test scores were much higher. Their student teacher ration was 10 to 1 vs 30-35 to 1 for public schools. In otherwords a much superior product at a cheap price. That just illustrates how bad our public schools really are.

I'm not arguing here . . but . .
How is this done? Are the charter schools using sub standard teachers and paying them less? Does physical plant costs get discounted?
I can understand the cost being less for a smaller physical plant, but the number of children (or students, if you will) in any district won't change, so how does the privileged 10 per teacher get chosen? And how does one justify leaving the rest behind?
Not being a wisea$$ here, but I have kind of half a$$ed listened to the fighting and quibbling between Lawrence Hernandez and the Pueblo School District and, because of all the invective, figured it to be just one more scam using public funds . . which I think it is . .
Change my mind . . .
