View Full Version : WHAT??!!!?? Somebody criticized District 60??!??
Kudos to Hank Sullivan, Color Copy Co., for not disclosing who the "bandit" was that printed 10,000 eight-page fliers critical of the District, its superintendant, Joyce Bales, and the school board president, Kitty Kennedy.
In the context of a business-customer relationship, there has to be a level of privacy maintained and that responsibility rests squarely on the shoulders of the business. What I choose to have printed and not printed is only my business, and the business of the printing company. I concede that as the owner of a printing company there will definitely be instances where business needs to be turned away based on moral, safety, and legal concerns. But folks, politics isn't one of them!
If people are looking for someone to blame for the printing of the flyer, maybe look towards those being criticized. I mean, come on, you didn't expect EVERYBODY to think the district was doing a good job, didja...??

In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards.

D,
Your right about the printer not disclosing his client. I agree.
Just for grins......How many D60 board meetings have you attended this year? At which school do you volunteer?
What's your take on the record setting progress the kids of this area have made?
If you have any information to the contrary, would you disclose your source?

Here's the short and skinny on your questions, my friend.
1. I have never in my life attended a D60 board meeting. Why? Because I don't participate on any level in the district. My child does not attend any school that is a part of the district and therefore we do not directly supply the district with either financial or volunteer support.
2. In line with what I just said, my child does not attend a school in district 60, therefore I do not volunteer at one. But, in an effort to lay rest your worry and concern, my wife and I are very active in the private school our child attends.
3. Interesting question about the progress of kids this area has made. Since it sounds like you are active within the district, I would hope that you would shed some light on the specifics of this record setting progress. I have been through the CDOE website and have seen progress made in the performance of district students over the past four years, but I can't really say that "record setting" was the first adjective to come to mind.
I guess in my view you don't have to be active within an organization to understand when someone who is active criticizes it.

What's your take on the record setting progress the kids of this area have made??Sure, AK, you 1st. And if you did attend those d60 meetings, don't you then have some responsibility for how things have worked out? :)
When using the contraction for "you are", the spelling is "you're", not "your", which is the possessive form.
Oh, and "record setting"? This from a district that can't even accurately count dropouts?
Oh yeah, I make an annual request to d60 for a refund of my property taxes on the basis that, so far as I can tell, no actual education has been delivered with those dollars, so clearly they can do the same non-education with similar amounts of non-dollars.

I've never been to a District 60 School Board Meeting . . Why? Because, I think of myself as somewhat a humorist of sorts (somewhat cynical, perhaps) but some really good sitcom writers would be hard put to come up with the soap opera they are currently involved in. Recently I wrote a short op ed to the Chieftain recommending the School Board go on TV as a Reality Show . . There would be money galore then!
And upon close inspection there aren't really anyone particularily right . . just some are far "wronger" than others . . . Racial agendas have no place in this situation, it just adds emotion to an already emotional subject. And whoever it was that wrote the Flyer was an "Agitator", not really interested in a solution, just stirring S*** . . . .
As far as the writer (or writers) go, it takes no talent nor backbone to write accusations and not stand up and admit it . . . Hank had nothing to do with it, he just printed it, and as a businessman, had no reason nor obligation to tell anyone who paid for it or provided the original . .
But the Author is a typical coward, making accusations without responsibility of proving anything he has written, nor answering for any false statements he might have made!
And While I'm not too crazy about Kennedy, I do like Garcia, and they seem to be the lesser of the four evils . . Piatt and Montez have turned out to have agendas that will in no way stabilize the board!

AK is the abbreviation for Alaska, you anal nitpicking leftist dunce. What a foolish attempt at a way to try to cheat on your taxes. Why don't you just sue the District for services not personally delivered to you?

Wow, a little overboard, don't you think? Relax, it's only a community forum.

Now, lets see if the message was taken . .
The people elected should note that they were'nt given a Mandate by landslide, but there should also be noted that certain agendas and Ideas should be cast aside. The "Racial" bickering and Discriminatory "Cheapshots' need to be thrown out, and a genuine effort made to align the School District and the Administration's Policies . . Joyce Bales also needs to tone down some of her managerial policies . . there has to be a little fire where there's so much smoke . .
Other than that, let's just watch . . . . .
Other than that, let's just watch . . . . .
Agreed! I will be watching with as much interest as I can muster...

Well, let's hope they can do business instead of run a Soap Opera . . . .
