Fox 31 News is reporting Clint Hurdle has been fired and the Rockies have scheduled a news conference for 2:30 today. I believe Clint had become comfortable with losing, and losing bad almost every night affects attendence, paraphernalia sales and everything else that trickles down from winning, and in the end it is all about money.

FINALLY, FINALLY
Isn't it always shortly after a vote of confidence?
Best of luck to Clint and his family. He is a nice guy.
Now, Apodaca needs to be next and soon.

Helton probably put it best though . . when he said; "It wasn't Clint's fault, he never batted, or fielded . . he never pitched a game."
My observation was, Clint let the team play and that was that . . The players as each other's peers were supposed to push each other . . sometimes they did, and a lot of the time they didn't . .
He was far too passive to be a good Major League Manager.
As far as the team, the talent's there, they just need positive direction!

Last night's game was, uh, different from the Rox we have grown to know . . Tracy had 'em almost playing "Billy Ball" . . Running, forcing errors on the base paths . . a little different . . see how far it goes . .

Rockies have fallen to 14th out of 16 National League teams in ERA and Apodaca is still the pitching coach.

Dunno . . best baseball on the tube right now is the NCAA Women's Softball World Series . . 2nd game in the final 2 out of three for all the marbles tonight, ESPN2@ 6 MDT. Washington Huskies V. Fla Gators
Danielle Lawrie is a phenomenon. She's pitched over 325 pitches in three days at 68-69 mph, with last night's game a two hitter for her, Washington winning, 8-0 . .

Yes, we're going to need diversions like that to get us through a painful Rockies season.
Fandom (http://reds.fandome.com/video/112661/Worst-Celebrity-First-Pitches-Ever/) has a video of the worst celebrity first pitches ever.

Watching the "New Rox' . . 4 straight, and they played 9 innings in all of them!
Y'notice though, there's some NEW faces . .
Suppose ole Tracy pulled out the "Glass of Water*" trick on some of those who weren't performing up to their abilities?
*Glass of Water Trick . . Where you call in an employee who tends to reflect the idea that he's indispensable, ask him to stick his finger into the water, pull it out and then ask him to tell you;"How big was the hole you left?"
A humbling question with plenty of proof that you need to be humbler . .
"Some people are just harder to replace than others" . . .

Don't know if it's Tracy's influence or multiple players coicidentally starting to perform better. I certainly haven't seen anything to complain about in the last 4 games that were well played in all aspects. My use of foul language has dropped off to near zero.
It's really nice to see Ian Stewart break out, he's got such unbelievable power and is so much better at 3rd than Atkins. His average is up to .237 but his slugging is a hefty .533 and his 11 home runs is on a pace for 32 this season.
I've not heard from Loren on this. I wonder if he's tired of tacos yet.

I don't think Loren will ever tire of Tacos . . .
Kinda cool to see all those kids moving up . . I've seen a lot of them play for the Sox in the past and then watching them move up assures me that I was well entertained and there was ample talent there . . although last year I watched one of the last appearances of de la Rosa on the mound down here . . when they moved him, I was almost in the "Feel Sorry "mode . . I didn't think he as ready . . (he wasn't) but the move up and work over the off season has made him a pretty ****ed good pitcher . .

The Rockies have done an exceptional job of building a very solid roster from within at every position except pitcher.
There have been a number of pitchers with great stuff that showed rapid advancement under the coaching of Bryan Harvey with the Tulsa Drillers. They get to the Sky Sox and then the Rockies and the nagging mental and control problems seem to get worse instead of better. That's been the case with Moales and De La Rosa and to some extent Jimenez and Corpas. They all have shown major league stuff for some time. Why was it when Francis needed rehab, he requested rehab at Tulsa instead of C-Springs? The humidor has removed the learning to pitch at Coors Field excuse.
Still think Apodaca needs to go.

You're might be right . . or one might look back and see who's not getting the job done at C Springs . . As I said, de la Rosa wasn't ready for the bigs when they called him up last year . . somehow he's gained control, slowed down on his delivery and shows some confidence . . how he got it might be debatable, and that goes for the rest of the starters . .
But they really show their abilities and confidence when the team doesn't quit in the 5th inning either . . Score 4 in the first and then don't come out of the dugout for the rest of the game can't be any kind of confidence builder for a pitcher . .
Again, like Helton said; "Clint wasn't batting, fielding or pitching, so it can't be all his fault."
New faces on the ball field and the reality of some new faces in hell for breakfast is making the difference, I think . . . all of a sudden some of those guys who showed a little ability sometime, are becoming stars all the time . . Atkins is a really good example . . Tulo still isn't playing offense as good as he could . . and on and on . .
