View Full Version : Idiots in this world!

I just got a knock on my door - a policeman asking if I'd seen anything in my neighborhood. Turns out my 95 year old neighbor was injured during a home invasion a little while ago, and now he's in the hospital.
I am pissed off that anyone would do such a thing -- especially to a senior citizen! And my neighbor is such a nice guy, too! He didn't deserve to be treated like that!
I guess someone's parents didn't turn them over their knee when they were younger.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

There are a lot of predators out there with absolutely no compassion, morals, ethics or other socialization that makes them even marginal candidates to be running loose on the streets.
When a stranger knocks I do not open my door. I talk to them out the window at the side as I had a bad experience one night where I had to call the police. Another time my elderly father had to pull a gun during an attempted home invasion. 911 is a hot button on my phone which I am prepared to press immediately if something is wrong.
Part of growing up is accepting there is a evil 1% of the population that will do bad things, sometimes very bad.
After 60 years it's luck and caution that makes me still breath.
Think Robert Piserchio. Think locked doors. Think Police. Have a plan. It only takes 1 bad time. I'm sorry to say it but when a stranger knocks at my door I do have a plan to kill them. My caution is designed to prevent that.
99% of the time life is fine but the 1% time is a booger.

I hope the cops catch these idiots and send their parents to jail for procreating!

I own a dog trained in personal protection. He will sit, stay, down, and hit em` on command. he is 125lbs, lives as a part of the family and will realease a perpetrator, or take them down, on command. We train dogs of all breeds. Mainly Shepherds, Malinois , and Bull breeds. This breed is a Perro de Presa Canario. My breed of choice as a family companion and protector. Here is a good example of what we train dogs to do. In public ,or, in the house, a well trained dog with a good temperament is reliable, social , and nobody ever knows they are trained to protect.

Lessee . . First, they're not idiots in the normal use of the word . . they're predatory opportunists. People who are too lazy to work and can't get on the public dole . . They look and listen to the pulse of their neighborhood and that of others. Kids who talk about what their parents and grandparents have or own, about the "new TV"or the Wii they got for christmas . .
They then look the situation over and assess the risk . . if there's dogs or any sign of security devices, they usually pass . . But defenseless old people, single women and other easy targets present themselves, and these a--holes take advantage . . they have little or no conscience, so knocking a 95 year old human down a flight of stairs or in the head doesn't bother them . .
The kids who did the deed on the old man were just punks, but I don't suppose that makes any difference to the old man . .
Defense against those predators is basically being private, keeping your belongings out of sight and never divulging in public, what your expensive possessions are . . and it depends upon where you live . . If you live where they live, they can observe and listen a lot easier . . There's all kinds of advice to give, most of which is common sense. A dog, no matter what size, is an asset, keeping the neighborhood kids (same age as yours . . ) out of the house if you have big TVs, sound systems or other expensive stuff is a good idea, they talk, you know . . Don't even let your kids know you keep any amount of cash or jewelry in your home . . or guns . . In other words, don't give anyone any reason to think they need to kick in your door . .
I won't discuss killing anyone, because we've already worn that one out, about ten times in the last 4 years . .

Too lazy to work but not too lazy to beat someone up?
According to this morning's paper, they also tried to suffocate him with a plastic bag.
This man's back yard is almost completely fenced in, whoever did this had to have known what they were doing, they had to have cased him out first.
He's a rather private guy but he's friendly and has the nicest garden in the neighborhood. He's always out in the spring and summer tending to his garden and saying hello to the passers by. The people working at SMC will say hello to him as they sit outside smoking - their smoking area is right across the street from his house. People in this neighborhood like him.
As for people knocking on back doors - the man never answers his front door, and whoever knocked on his back door obviously knows this.
I'm so pissed off about this - honestly! I am SOOOOOOOOO pissed off!

No accounting for people's stupidity . . My father was murdered by a kid who lived across the street and believed that the old man had a "Stash", basically because of his projected style of living (He appeared to live like a hermit) . . After killing him, he didn't even take the $115 the old man had in his pocket . .
Probably about the same deal, except the old guy here didn't have a gun they could shoot him with . .

Large , I am so sorry to hear that. You are right, they are opportunistic punks. Often gang bangers will target the helpless for initiations.
I used to be away from home quite a bit. I would worry about such things. I worried less after I got my dog. My kids can ride him and command him. He is very obedient. Here are a few more pictures of him. Needless to say visitors are very well behaved .The deterrent factor is invaluable. His bark is low and throaty and serves as a nice early warning of company. He does not fail to greet visitors at the door.

Taking it to "the bad guy". Training to protect. 125 lbs of your worst day if you act aggressively towards his family.

What if one kid gets mad at another and tells the dog to attack the other kid?

We had a Staffordshire Pit Bull, the best dog we ever had. He would stand between me and anyone who would come within three feet of me. He never growled at anyone, he just looked threatening. We had him for thirteen years. He was obedient, loved to play catch, got along with the cat.
Now we have a rambuncious, spoiled little Pomeranian who terrorizes the cat, barks at everyone walking by the house, has a fit when either one of us leaves the house. I don't think she would allow any stranger the chance to enter our home without an ear piercing bark-a-thon, which has occurred when friends and family pop in. I guess we'll keep her. Actually, animals add to one's well being and longevity. The world would be pretty boring without them.
It is a real shame that someone would attack an elderly person. These people are cowards and eventually will reap what they sow. It is the wise thng to do, being aware of the people around you, especially in parking lots at the Wal-Mart and grocery stores. It never fails, I have someone approach me with a sad story about needing money either for gas or food, and me I have a hard time saying no. My husband gets pretty agitated at me.

I used to have a pomeranian. I'll never do that again! They are very nervous and barky dogs who pee on everything! I have ZERO tolerance for nervous animals who pee on everything. Couldn't even pick the durned thing up without him dribbling on me - EEWWW!

PS - When people approach me with their hard luck stories, I send them to Catholic Charities, Posada, or the food pantry - depending on their need.

Sandra, so far our Pomeranian hasn't made any messes, she is good about letting us know when she has to go out. My husband adores her, she is good company for him while I'm in Castle Rock during the week babysitting my grandsons.
I tell people about the soup kitchen, and all the charities I can think of. The people that approach me seem to all have the same look. They are lost. I know some people choose to live this way, but it is hard to look in their eyes. I see sadness, messed up lives.

Maybe these dogs need to be working class dogs like Davide's. They probably aren't qualified for the same type of work considering the size difference. But I bet they could find a job as a buffer for Large's street rod. Just pick 'em up and start rubbing....

Chuckie, believe it or not, Pomeranian dogs were bred in Iceland as herding dogs, that is why so much hair. My dog actually tries to herd the cat. The cat only puts up with so much and then she backhands the dog. Very entertaining. The cat actually likes the dog and misses her when we put her in Camp Bow Wow when we are away.
