Hmmm... Today's article on Pueblo bus rate hikes touches a sore spot with me. I think that more people would use the bus if the ROUTES were more like routes in other cities. That is, for example, if the route that goes east on Northern also had a component of going west. Then people wouldn't have to ride around town for an hour just to get back to the place they started.

One would tend to think that . . However, that would take TWO buses . . then you would have to get off one and get on another . . Cost ya another dollar!

I gave up on Pueblo Transit last year. I thought that I'd start taking PT instead of driving to CSU-P every day. After trying it out for three days, I found it to be way too much of a hassle.

My earliest class was at 10am on MWF. I lived near PCC and I would have to board the bus at 8am to get dropped off at CSU-P at 9:55. Basically two hours spent on the bus each morning. My last class was at 2:50 which meant I'd more than likely miss the 2:55 bus and I'd have to catch the 3:25 bus which would get me home around 4:15. The ride home wasn't too bad, it was the long two hours in the morning. Total time spent on the bus: 2 hours 50 minutes.

On Tuesdays and Thursday, it was even worse. My earliest class was at 9:30am. To make it on time, I'd have to get dropped off at the transit center by 8:30 which meant I had to catch the 7:10 near PCC. I was leaving home 2:20 before my first class. My last class was over at 12:30, so I'd catch the 12:55 and get home close to 2:15. Total time spent on the bus: 3 hours 15 minutes.

I said screw it and bought a bike. For the first few months, it took me 50 minutes to ride to CSU-P using the nature trail. Then came that %#&*#@ kayak course and they tore up a much needed section of the bike trail. So I went back to driving my vehicle....screw the environment. 15 hours a week spent on the bus wasn't going to do me any good. It wasn't quiet enough to do homework and each time (all 3) there was some early morning drunk stinking up the bus who thought we would delight in his smells.

Overall, I don't think I'll ever use their craptastic service ever again. I do pity the people who have to rely on PT to maintain employment or can't afford a vehicle.
